Resonate Artist Of The Week: Dutch Wine

We’re buzzing to bring you an exclusive premiere this week from impeccable rock trio - Dutch Wine.

Debuting EP ‘Before It Wasn’t’ is raucous, contemporary and stooped in modern post punk attitude. The 5-track record floats between hard hitting driving rhythms, atmospheric guitars and lackadaisical performance all culminating for their quintessential DIY sound. It’s unmistakable raw and emotive and we love it.

Speaking on the recording process and finished product, singer Calvin Smith states:

"We just swept ourselves away to a remote studio and recorded all day every day for the best part of a week. There was such momentum and eagerness going into the sessions and i think it really comes across in the tracks."

"It really encapsulates our ethos and songwriting techniques - there's moments of softness, moments of sheer power, and moments where just absolutely anything goes."

Penultimate track ‘Stand Still’ is passion-filled and with a progressive angst, jumping from subtle instrumentation to full on audio carnage. There’s an unrivalled energy which is portrayed through Dutch Wine’s performance, wild and untamed and is infectious upon listening. Something that we expect to carry over into their live performances and will be on show Friday 4th February as they headline Glasgow’s Hug & Pint.

Dutch Wine continue to build their profile quietly but confidently with support coming from the likes of BBC Introducing, Tenement TV & Snack Mag to name a few. We’re following suit and tipping this band as one to watch for 2022.
