Resonate Artist of the Week: Thomas Brumby

Thomas Brumby’s follow up to ‘Stay Put’, is about feeling out of sorts with yourself, kind of blank and nothingy, but being in a situation when you are expected to engage. ‘Be Pleasant’ looks at the noise and overwhelming pace of modern life.

The track explores the disconnect between what we’re expected to do and what we want to do, using the chorus to express an isolating bubble of depression while the world continues to move around us.

With tongue-in-cheek lyrics that highlight our modern state of apathy, there may be no pot of gold at the end of a rainbow or nothing interesting to see at the bottom of the ocean but ‘Be Pleasant’ demonstrates the grace and value of humour in the darkest times.
