Stevie Kempner [Entertainment Lawyer - SSB]

Renowned for her drive, passion and encyclopedic knowledge of the industry, she has helped to launch the careers of new and emerging talent, as well as representing more established clients including Biffy Clyro and Fontaines DC.

Stevie's extensive client roster includes artists, songwriters, labels, publishers, investment funds and TV and sports personalities.

Chris Lamb [Agent - Elite Music Management]

Working primarily with techno live acts and DJs, the Glaswegian has been an agent at Elite Music Management for 10+ years. He represents several of the genres leading artists including Dax J, Perc, Slam & SPFDJ. Earlier in his career in music he worked press, distribution and A&R at Soma Records, promotion at Slam Events and also at the Arches. He studied Sound Production and Music Management courses at Stow College, and was a founding member of the Animal Farm collective, who have now promoted techno events in Glasgow for 20 years.

Denise Allan [Artist Manager - 677 Media Management]

Denise Allan is a founding partner and Director of 677 Media Management; an independent Artist management company based in Glasgow. Guiding platinum sellers Glasvegas to success and driving talent development of an eclectic roster of young women including Plasticine, Lamaya & Cherry.

Frances B Shillito [NWM Management]

In 2024, Frances (former founder of FRNT MGMT) merged companies with Alan Fitzpatrick’s No Words Needed Management. Frances is a well respected figure in the realm of artist management, renowned for her passion for dance music and profound dedication to nurturing talent. With a wealth of experience and a keen eye for emerging artists, Frances has left an indelible mark on the industry landscape.

Frances propelled the agency to the forefront of the electronic scene by being the first female founded agency on the market, curating a roster of underground artists and orchestrating their ascent to prominence. Her innate ability to recognise potential, coupled with her strategic insight, has cemented her reputation in the field.

As she embarks on the next chapter of her journey with NWN, Frances remains steadfast in her mission to empower artists and elevate their voices on a global scale.'

Meg Denholm [Local Promoter Assistant - DF Concerts]

Meg joined DF Concerts & Events in 2022 as the Local Promoter Assistant. Her job includes booking Scotland's freshest, up-and-coming artists for support slots for touring artists, in addition to cultivating the hottest line ups of new music within grassroot venues such as the legendary King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut. She has her ear to the ground within the local Scottish music scene, across a multitude of genres to keep an eye on emerging artists, and is a key contact for many as she provides support and advice to those within her network. Meg is an experienced local promoter as she began her own business prior to her career at DF Concerts & Events. She earned her Masters in Music: Creative Industries from the University of the West of Scotland in 2021.

UHI x SMIA Drop In Session

Speakers: Gareth Whitehead [University of the Highlands & Islands] & Aja Garrod-Prance [General Manager - SMIA]

As part of their ongoing educational partnership, UHI Perth's Music Business department and the Scottish Music Industry Association (SMIA) will conduct a drop-in session at this year’s Resonate conference. This session will focus on discussing career opportunities and pathways within the music industry. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage in personalised discussions with staff from UHI Perth and SMIA, focusing on their career objectives and receiving customised advice on appropriate educational and professional pathways.

Gareth Whitehead  [University of the Highlands & Islands]

Gareth Whitehead is a lecturer in the fields of music business, electronic music composition, and sound production. Emphasising the importance of experiential learning and understanding industry career paths, Gareth has distinguished himself through his approach to curriculum design and the cultivation of student-led projects during his tenure as a lecturer.

He currently serves as a Music Business lecturer at the University of the Highlands and Islands whereby his approach to teaching  prioritises the creation of learning environments that enable students to actively engage with and apply the theoretical concepts covered in the classroom. By designing curricula that foster hands-on experiences and self-directed projects, he aims to bridge the gap between academic study and professional practice, empowering his students to develop the skills and knowledge necessary to navigate the dynamic landscape of the music industry.
Aja Garrod-Prance [General Manager - SMIA]

Aja joined the SMIA in 2024 as General Manager. Their role involves the day-to-day management of the SMIA’s business operations, including overseeing the successful delivery of our annual programme of services, projects and events; supporting the work of the wider executive team. They also work with our partners across SMIA projects and programmes, building effective relationships to support the SMIA’s strategic objectives.
Originally from the South of England, Aja has worked in a number of roles across the creative industries including operations, event programming and production, and funding. For the last four years, their career has focussed on talent development, funding support for grassroots music organisations and emerging music creators through roles at the PRS Foundation and Youth Music. They relocated from London to Glasgow in 2023.
