Resonate Artist Of The Week: Dictator

Taking this week’s Artist Of The Week crown is West Lothian quartet of Dictator renown for their heartbreaking ballads and foot stomping indie bangers. This is a band with a strong focus on collaboration and an outspoken social conscious, they are vocal supporters of their local scene and have an intimate connection with their fanbase. Combining this with tongue in cheek social media antics and playful live performances ensures they are a consistent must see live act.

We’re over the moon to be able to bring your an exclusive premiere of their latest track ‘Candlemaker Row’. A track which is saturated in dissonance and mystery, 'Candlemaker Row’ haunts and expressive, yet understated with minimalist instrumentation in parts. Inspirations are worn on their sleeves with clear nods to Gorillaz, Primal Scream, Glass Animals, Alt-J and London Grammar. They insist on pushing their musical boundaries, defying all labels and expectations and creating their own unique blend of electronic indie pop.

It’s been quite the year for the quartet who recently relished in their nomination for ‘Best Rock’ in this year’s Scottish Alternative Music Awards - a fiercly competitive category. In addition, fresh off of performing for BBC Sportsound Live at the Edinburgh Fringe, the band have just SOLD OUT their first ever Glasgow headline at Stereo on Saturday, 18 December. This after already selling out Edinburgh venue Shout! back in July 2021 (and Sneaky Pete's before that in February 2020)
