Resonate Artist Of The Week: Katie Gregson-MacLeod
Another Tuesday afternoon brings us another amazing Resonate Artist Of The Week - coming in the form of Highlands singer-songwriter Katie Gregson-MacLeod. Her debut single ‘Still A Sad Song’ premiered on Vic Galloway’s BBC Scotland radio show a couple of weeks back and was highlighted as one of the selectors BBC Introducing tracks. A wonderful achievement for this young songstress’ debut release.
Kate Gregson-MacLeod resides in Inverness and lists the likes of Phoebe Bridgers, Julia Jacklin, Glen Hansard & Amy Winehouse amongst her influences. Katie’s identifiable vocal tone draws likeness from London Grammar’s Hannah Reid. ‘Still A Sad Song’ was co-produced by Katie alongside producing partner Toby MacDonald. The track adopts a laissez faire attitude - with catchy melodies in abundance. Add a sprinkling of expertly executed harmonies, wrapped up in a cool blanket of organ chords - makes for very comforting listening.
Katie's debut single 'Still a Sad Song' was released on the 17th July 2020 and has been played on radio shows by Vic Galloway, Jim Gellatly, Roddy Hart and BBC Radio Nan Gàidheal.
