Resonate Artist Of The Week : Hannah Laing
We’re back with another sensational artist of the week and taking home the crown this week is Dundee’s Queen of house, Hannah Laing.
The rise of Hannah Laing has been inevitable - a dedicated music lover and DJ who’s been exposed to the wonders of dance music from a young age. Learning to DJ and more recently produce have catapulted Hannah onto major festival stages and other live events. Blessing stages in The Arches, O2 Academy, Royal Highland Centre and Braehead Arena were only the tipping point. The summer of 2022 proved to be a ground breaking one for the Dundee star who’s stood behind the decks at the likes of Creamfields & TRNSMT, not to mention her foray of Ibiza shows. A series of performances on the White Isle which saw her share stages with the likes of Patrick Topping & Idris Elba as well as performing at the iconic Café Mambo.
It’s not all about DJing though, Hannah has taken hold of her destiny in the past 18 months with a series of releases which have perked the ears of industry professionals and peers alike. Her track ‘& Back’ was snapped up by Patrick Topping’s Trick imprint and ‘Climax’ signed to Jax Jones’ imprint WUGD. Both epically dance-able tracks which merge classic house with a sprinkling of techno. Within Hannah’s productions, her childhood influences of the likes of Sasha, John Digweed and Roger Sanchez are clear to hear - they give a nod to nostalgia whilst still being youthful and banging.
Hannah’s most recent release see’s her team up with friend and fellow Scot Stephen Kirkwood. Their track ‘Don’t Wanna Go’ has been lighting up club dance floors and festival stages all summer with his emphatic bass and mind bending drones. It was recently selected as BBC Radio 1 Future Dance’s track ID via Sarah Story where the pair were interviewed on Friday night’s popular show. DWG has achieved a plethora of editorial playlist support too and is out now on Stress Records.
