Resonate Artist Of The Week : Michael McGovern

A sensational album deservedly takes this week’s artist of the week title - Michael McGovern’s ‘Highfield Suite’ is nothing short of astonishing.

Michael McGovern is a singer-songwriter from Glasgow who’s masterful melodic and lyrical synergy reaches dizzying heights in his debut album which is a summation of his work since he began writing songs as a teenager. Since the pandemic brought the end of live performances, Michael spent the majority of 2020 in isolation with time to record this impeccable album. He reached out to friends and fellow musicians Scarlett Randall, Scott C. Park and Jamie Sturt who lend their quality musical talents to this album.

‘I Hear Their Voices In The Attic’ is a personal stand out - its elongated grand piano solo, remarkable harmonies and duty to amplify Michael’s alluring vocal tone. It’s quite a feat to have such a strong selection of works available through one release - from track to track there are no points of weakness.

Throughout ‘Highfield Suite’ , McGovern tips his hat to some of his inspirations - the likes of Fleet Foxes, Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen, yet he maintains a unique originality, something few artists manage to maintain. Listen to the album now available on all major streaming platforms or grab a physical copy [CD or vinyl] through Michael’s website.
