RESONATE ARTIST OF THE WEEK: Hessian Renegade
Hessian Renegade are an alternative hip hop duo from Glasgow combining 90’s era hip hop with electronic sythns, distored guitarts and a blend of live and digital drum sounds cullminating in a diverse heavy rap-raving sound.
Their debut single “Bread & Circuses” was instantly picked up by Glasgow based professional wrestling company ICW as the entrance theme for their former Zero G Champion 'Andy Wild'. The same single was also featured in The Herald Scotland's "Top 100 Tunes from Scotland 2019" at number 24, beating out industry heavyweights such as Idlewild and Biffy Clyro.
New single ‘Locker’ dropped last Friday and again highlights the eclectic ability this duo are able to bring to the table. Violist ‘LivMassive’ and rap duo ‘Hessian Renegade’ have created a novel blend of classical, electronic and rap through innovative production means to tell a story about change.
“‘Locker’ was created entirely from viola. Rhythms were built by tapping the instrument in different positions while plucks and experimental playing styles fleshed out the rest.”
