RESONATE ARTIST OF THE WEEK : Russell Stewart

Oh would you look at that, Monday is upon us once more! Spare yourself Monday blues and tune in to one of Scotland’s most exciting young singer-songwriters. Step up, Russell Stewart. His ‘Who Am I To You’ launch at Stereo in March was a truly incredible display of sheer spectacular songwriting and expertly convicted musical performance. Russell was a beacon on honesty, integrity and energy.

Playing to a packed out ground in Glasgow’s Stereo, Russell channelled the likes of Tom Misch playing some tracks simply with his electric guitar. As stripped back as possible, it was a route to express his exceptional vocal prowess. Impressive vocal runs and his extensive range were just a couple of marvellous features in Russell’s performance. The addition of the star studded band made for excellent listening with members of Lizzie Reid and former Ayrshire jazz maestros Easy also joining Russell on stage. Crafty jazz influenced electronic pop showcased at a high level.
