The Rise Of Community Radio Buena Vida

Speakers: David Fleming (Speedy), KTAB, Naomi Clarke (The Sound Lab)

With a simple ethos of championing emergent as well as established talent across all genres, Radio Buena Vida have quickly risen to become one of Glasgow’s most loved radio stations. They provide a safe sanctuary where artists, DJs and hosts can learn, explore, create, collaborate, connect, experiment and flourish irrespective of race, sexuality, gender, disability, religion, experience level or socio-economic status. Join RBV co-founder David Fleming aka Speedy alongside resident Adam Khettabi aka KTAB & The Sound Lab’s Naomi Clarke as they discuss the impact on the local community.

David Fleming (Radio Buena Vida)

Co-founder of Radio Buena Vida and host of the Rise Up show. David (aka Speedy) has almost 20 years of involvement in Glasgow's rich electronic music scene behind him after running the Inner City Acid club nights at the sadly departed Soundhaus venue between 2004-2009 where he booked and warmed up for names such as DJ Pierre, Phuture, Luke Vibert, Radioactive Man, The Youngsters, DMX Krew and more while also championing local and unsigned talent.

OG PR & Social Media Manager at La Cheetah Club, label boss of the short-lived Cold City Cuts imprint and quite possibly wrote some of your favourite local DJ/producers' bios and release reviews.

Adam Khettab (KTAB)

KTAB is a Scottish/Moroccan, Glasgow-based producer and DJ, previously a part of London-based collective Kenyon Sound. This led to KTAB's experience holding down a radio show, putting on club events and scheduling releases.

KTAB emerged on the scene purely as a DJ, but now expect some forthcoming self releases as well as label releases in 2022 and beyond. Tune into KTAB's Mineral Tea Show on Radio Buena Vida to guarantee your daily mineral intake.

Naomi Clarke (The Sound Lab)

Naomi Clarke is the Development Coordinator for Sound Lab, a Glasgow-based music education charity, providing free, inclusive opportunities in music and creative arts for people who can often face barriers accessing music. Since beginning as a volunteer in 2016, Naomi has stepped into a role as the charity's full-time member of staff, helping support new and emerging talent from under-represented communities.
