Kate Lowes (Brighter Sound)
Kate Lowes has worked in music for 20 years as a musician and senior arts manager. She is currently Head of Programmes at Brighter Sound - a Manchester-based music development charity that produces pioneering residencies, commissions, training programmes and events to support, inspire and platform local and international music professionals. Kate has recently completed a practice-based PhD exploring the relationship between gender, regionalism and the music industry. Her research is practice-based and connected to the development of Brighter Sound's gender equality work, which includes artistic and career development for women and people of marginalised genders working in music, educational resources for schools and All Things Equal, a crowd-sourced manifesto calling for change
Jess Partridge (Brighter Sound)
Founder of Sounds & Strategy, BDT Sounds and London in Stereo, Jess Partridge focuses on supporting the international music industry through talent development, export consulting, marketing and community creation using tools such as funding development, mentoring, workshops and project management. With a passion for equality in music she’s worked with organisations from Keychange, EMEE, Annie Mac, shesaid.so, British Council and many more to create impactful projects of all sizes. Jess is a proactive and knowledgeable champion of new music and its diversity.
